Chattooga County School Superintendent Jimmy Lenderman said Tuesday morning that Chattooga Schools will be dismissing today at 1 PM.
Lenderman said that with area rivers and creeks rising, the school system wants to be sure that children are transported home safely. Lenderman said that some area roads have standing water and with more rain predicted today Chattooga Schools would be dismissing early as a precaution.
Also, Chattooga County Schools will operate on a three hour delay on Wednesday morning. Lenderman said that with the Chattooga River expected to crest at midnight tonight, the three hour delay should insure a safer commute for students on Wednesday.
