Atrium Health Floyd’s Chattooga Freestanding Emergency Department has reached another milestone.  The facility, which first opened in October of 2023, has served over 13,000 residents in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry said on Tuesday, “Since opening its doors in October of 2023 the Free Standing ER in Chattooga County has seen 13,682 patients. This collaborative project is saving lives and setting the standard for rural healthcare in the State of Georgia”.

Atrium Health Floyd says that the Chattooga location was the first freestanding emergency department to use a modular construction method, which enabled the facility to be designed, built and opened in about 12 months. Since its opening the facility has far exceeded projections and expectations.
