The University of Georgia’s Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides interactive educational sessions where participants try new recipes and learn how to stretch their food dollars, improve nutrition practices, and prevent food-borne illness. EFNEP programming is delivered through the county network of UGA Extension. The program provides all teaching materials and recipe ingredients at no cost to partners or participants. The program has hosted over 32,000 educational sessions statewide.
Chattooga County Extension Agent Rebecca Thomas was recently named the Georgia EFNEP Supervisor of the Year at the 2023 EFNEP and SNAP-ED state conference.
Thomas said, ” The 2023 EFNEP and SNAP-ED state conference was rejuvenating and inspiring. I had a great time connecting with colleagues from across the state. We had the unique opportunity to tour the UGA Football practice facilities and kitchen. We heard a great presentation from the Assistant Nutrition Director over UGA Football players. She spoke with us how they create individual meal plans for each player and all that goes into educating our players to meet their goals. I was also brought to tears by being awarded the Supervisor of the Year. I am truly blessed to work with some wonderful people”.
