All of the sites, sounds and events at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair are a huge draw for fair-goers from all over the area, but one of the big draws at the fair are the various livestock shows that are held under the pavilion each day of the fair.

The fair showcases agriculture in the county and provides local 4-H and FFA students the opportunity to show their animals in competition.  But it isn’t just Chattooga County 4-H and FFA students that take part in the shows.  Because the fair is held shortly after school starts back in August of each year, it is the first opportunity in the state of Georgia for students to show their livestock.  That means there are entries into the various livestock shows from all over the state, with many competitors travelling hundreds of miles to compete in Chattooga County.  Each year, the livestock shows at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair reach maximum entry for participation and this year is no exception.

There is so much to see and do each year at the fair, but fair-goers are encouraged to take some time and enjoy the livestock shows that take place each year.

This year’s livestock shows are as follows:

Thursday – Jr. Market Goat Show – 5:30 PM

Friday – Jr. Market Lamb Show – 5:30 PM

Saturday – Jr. Beef Show – 1 PM

Saturday – Poultry Show & Auction – 6:30 PM

Sunday – Jr. Dairy Show – 2 PM

Sunday – Market Hog Preview Show – 6 PM
