The Georgia Department of Labor released new unemployment numbers last Thursday.  Unemployment remains at a historic low in the state and here in Chattooga County as well.
There were 42 initial unemployment claims in Chattooga County for December, that was up just one from November, but down dramatically from 150 the previous year.

Surrounding counties in Northwest Georgia saw similar numbers, but overall, unemployment still remains at extremely low levels.

The Georgia Department of Labor says right now there are more jobs than there are workers across the state.
