The Chattooga High School Track and Field team returned home as heroes after a stellar performance at the 2025 State Competition. With nine athletes competing across 13 events, the team showcased exceptional talent, culminating in two State Championships and an impressive eight Top 5 placements.
Zayden Cook led the charge for the Indians, seizing the State Championship title in the 110m Hurdles. His lightning-fast time of 14.49 seconds not only secured the victory but also etched his name in school history with a new record. Matthew Bryant proved to be a force to be reckoned with, earning three impressive third-place finishes in the Triple Jump (44’-3”), 100m Dash (11.15), and 200m Dash (22.95). He also secured 8th place in the Long Jump with a jump of 21’-0.5”.
On the girls’ side, Talia Sanders blazed her way to victory, claiming the State Championship in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.61. She also added to her success with a 4th place finish in the 200m Dash (26.96). Amiyah Hudgins soared to new heights, securing 5th place in the High Jump with a leap of 5’-2”, breaking the previous school record in the process. The Girls 4x100m Relay team, composed of Talia Sanders, Briasia Morton, Taniya Fife, and Cameryn Smith, displayed exceptional teamwork and speed, racing to a 2nd place finish with a time of 51.21. Additional notable performances included Briana Finley’s 9th place finish in the Shot Put (34’-8”), Briasia Morton’s 10th place in the Long Jump (15’-6”) and 12th place in the 200m Dash (27.21), and Syriah Jones’ 12th place in the 400m Dash (1:03.57). The Girls 4x200m Relay team (Amiyah Hudgins, Syriah Jones, Talia Sanders, Cameryn Smith) finished 11th at 1:03.57.
The Chattooga Girls team finished 12th out of 29 scoring teams, while the Boys team earned an impressive 8th place among 37 teams, solidifying their place among the state’s elite track and field programs.
The 2025 season will be remembered as a resounding success for the Chattooga High School Track and Field team.
