The 2009 Chattooga County Library System Vacation Reading Program is wrapping up, but don’t despair because there are still opportunities to participate before summer is gone. Today at 1pm at the Trion branch of the library system Scott Douglas will be presenting "Shanke, Rattle and Roll." The program allows kids of all ages to expreience music from around the world and learn how insturments are created and how music and poetry go hand in hand.

I personally saw this program this morning at the Summerville library branch and it was amazing! I reccomend it to anyone who enjoys music. There were instruments from Russia, China, Africa, Trinidad, and many more places. Mr. Douglas is a musical genius!

Appearing next week at your local libraries will be "Reading Round Up" with Tommy Johns. He will be blazing a trail of creativity with magic. He will be at the Summerville library June, 29 at 10:30a. and at the Trion branch at at 1:00pm.

In July the library will host a grand finale with Chad Crews. Chad tells stories and makes reading fun. Also, there will be face painting, art activities and games. This show will be at the Summerville Library Tuesday, July 7 at 2:00.

Check out these fun events at your local library branch. Also, take advantage of the many books on shelves waiting to be discovered!
