A twenty-five-year-old Summerville man was sentenced to eight years in prison for statutory rape.  The sentence was handed down in Chattooga County Superior Court.  Nathaniel Lee Minard confessed to the crime and admitted that he enticed the twelve-year-old female victim and then took her to a specific location with the intent of raping her.

According to arrest reports from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Minard was arrested on October 9, 2020 and was charged with statutory rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

In addition to be sent to prison for eight years, Minard will receive twenty-years probation upon his release from prison.
