In the latest round of numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health, Chattooga County recorded another COVID-19 death.  It was the first COVID-19 death reported in Chattooga County in a month.

In April of this year the Georgia Department of Public Health began releasing COVID-19 numbers weekly, instead of daily.  The latest numbers were released last Wednesday and new numbers will be reported tomorrow.

Georgia’s pandemic spread began in March 2020 and, since then, 1,349 people have died from the virus in Floyd, Bartow, Gordon, Polk and Chattooga counties combined. Another 250 deaths have been listed by the state agency as “probable” COVID-19 deaths.

Over the past week, Chattooga County reported 54 new COVID-19 cases – that’s down from 81 the previous week.
