The heavy rains earlier this week produced flooding all over the county.  The Chattooga River reached a measure of 16.89 feet on Wednesday evening.  Anything over 14 feet is considered to be flood stage.  At 6:15 this morning the Chattooga River was at 6.5 feet, well below flood stage.

Official reports indicate that the area received over 7 inches of rain fall this week.  The Southeast Regional Climate Center is reporting that Chattooga County is now listed as "Abnormally Dry" as far as drought conditions, which is a substantial improvement from the drought conditions we have experienced over the past 16 months when the area was in a "Severe Drought".
