Chattooga County School Superintendent Jared Hosmer told WZQZ News on Monday that more information about the start of school and online learning will be released later this week.
Chattooga County will open schools on July 30th. The school system will also offer a virtual teaching curriculum for families that don’t feel comfortable going to school when it begins. Supt. Hosmer says that more details about online learning will be released in the upcoming days. Also, parents who choose to use the online teaching method will be given more information in meetings that will be scheduled within the next couple of weeks. Expect to hear more about this in upcoming news releases from the school district.
Masks for students and teachers will not be required but will be recommended where social distancing is more difficult. Student pickup, drop-off, lunches and recess will be altered to make sure social distancing is a priority. Exactly how that will look is still to be determined.
WZQZ will bring you the latest on Chattooga County Schools reopening plans on our website and on the radio.
Keep in mind, the Chattooga County School System includes Chattooga High School, Summerville Middle School, Leroy Massey Elementary, Lyerly Elementary and Menlo Elementary schools.
