Yesterday the Georgia Department of Transportation released the unconstrained list of transportation projects for possible inclusion in a 15-county regional transportation sales tax package.
Chattooga County’s request for sidewalk extensions on Highway 100, Highway 114 and Highway 27 in Summerville, Lyerly and Trion is included on the list of projects that have been included on the list.
If the project makes the cut in August, the sidewalk project would be included in a list of projects for a fifteen county area consisting of: Floyd, Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Polk, Paulding, Pickens, Walker and Whitfield.
Public hearings will be held in August to get input on the proposals from the various counties.  Voters in all fifteen counties would vote on the approval of a one cent sales tax to fund the projects.
