Chattooga High School’s CTAE program had a good weekend – with the high school’s welding fabrication team winning second place in the nation.  Also, the schools construction team placed in the top-nine in the nation at the SKILLSUSA national competition.

Welding instructor Jeff Owings told WZQZ News that the welding fabrication team has placed top in the SKILLSUSA-GEORGIA competition for the past three years in a row, but this is the first time the team has placed in the national competition.

William Elrod, Gavin Jarrett and Marrion Mostiller made up the team representing Chattooga High School in the competition.  This year’s competition was a virtual event and the work by the students was videoed and then proctored by Austin Kennett from Smith Iron Works in Lyerly.
