Northwest Georgia saw a jump in the unemployment numbers for the month of January according to data released last week by the Georgia Department of Labor.
But there was some good news for Chattooga County. While the rest of the area saw a spike in unemployment numbers, Chattooga County’s unemployment rate fell from over 14 percent in December of 2010 to 12.9 percent in January.
Walker County also saw a decrease in unemployment from 11.3 percent in December to 10.2 percent in January. The rest of the counties in Northwest Georgia saw an upward trend in unemployment for January.
