The Georgia Department of Labor released unemployment numbers for the month of November late last week.
According to the numbers, unemployment went up across the Northwest Georgia region. The same was true for Chattooga County which saw an 8/10ths of a percentage point increase to 5.3%. Neighboring Walker County’s unemployment was up slightly, but remains low at 3.4%.
Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said, “Although the unemployment rate increased across the state, we have held consistently steady numbers in areas such as job growth and employment. We will continue to fill the jobs that are currently available, in order for us to move our economy back to where it was pre-pandemic.”
