The Chattooga County Water District met in their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at the water district office in Trion. The council heard about the receipt of a GEFA loan in the amount of $1,62,000 which will be used to finance Phase II of the Chattooga County Water Project.
Summerville resident Mike Fulmer who owns property on Stateline Road at Cloudland addressed the board regarding rental property he owns that has a well that is nearly dry. The board assured Mr. Fulmer that water would be run to that area of Cloudland by mid-summer.
Board members also discussed limitations to the Water District Chairman’s responsibilities. The board voted that all future hiring and firing must be approved by board members. In a separate motion the board limited the amount of money that the chairman can spend to $500 purchases.
The board voted to hold April’s meeting of the Chattooga County Water District at Cloudland at the Cloudland Presbyterian Church and to invite the Cloudland Water Board to join them at that meeting.
