
The latest round of numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor show that Chattooga County has the second-highest unemployment rate in Northwest Georgia. The numbers that were recently released show an unemployment rate of 3.7% in Chattooga County.
Murray County had the highest rate at 3.8%. Only Murray, Chattooga and Whitfield Counties had unemployment rates higher than 3%. Catoosa County had the lowest rate at 2.4%, followed closely by Gordon County at 2.5%.
“We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” says outgoing Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.”
Chattooga County did improve over the month from a previous unemployment rate of 3.9%.
