Young Farmer Day will be held in Chattooga County May 21 from 10 am until 4pm at the Chattooga County Agriculture Center, located on Hwy 100 by the Chattooga County Board of Education.

Admission to the event is free. Various activities for the day have been planned including food and craft vendors, livestock exhibits, cow patty bingo, farm equipment, inflatables, hay rides and camp fire cooking and a dunking booth.

The community is invited to participate in a recipe contest highlighting peanuts, which is the Georgia Farm Bureau featured commodity for the year. Participants should submit their entries, accompanied by a recipe on a 3 X 5 index card by 10:30 am for judging. The entries should be a dish that is made with peanuts or peanut butter. There will be two divisions including Youth (ages 15 and under) and Adult.

The ribbon cutting for the facility will take place at noon, followed by the recipe contest winners. An auction will take place at 1 pm with a cow patty bingo event at 2 pm.

This will be the first event hosted at the new agriculture center. This facility will be home to the annual ag day, farmers market and more. As funds become available, additions will made to the pavilion to eventually host more events for the county.
