While Chattooga County’s unemployment rate remains high, it has seen an improvement over last month. According to data released yesterday by the Georgia Department of Labor, Chattooga County’s unemployment number dropped from 18% in March down to 13.6% last month.
In Walker County the unemployment rate is now below 10%. According to the GDOL Walker County’s unemployment rate stands at 9.7% in April, down from 13.2% in March.
State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond says that he is hopeful that unemployment in the state has reached it’s peak and is now on the way down.
