Here is something to be thankful for – Chattooga County’s unemployment rate is dropping. While the drop is not dramatic, it is a reversal of months of unemployment numbers over 12%. In September of this year Chattooga County’s unemployment rate was 11.7% and according to numbers released yesterday by the Georgia Department of Labor, that unemployment number is now down to 11.2%. In October of 2009 the unemployment rate stood at nearly 14% in Chattooga County. While the numbers are good news, Georgia still ranks higher than the national average in unemployment at 10.2% – compared to a 9.6% national average.
