Chattooga Counties unemployment rate increased over the last month.

According to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor for the month of February, Chattooga County now has an unemployment rate of 4.2%; that’s up from 3.4% in January of this year.

Chattooga County wasn’t the only county in Northwest Georgia with an increase in unemployment.  But even with an increase in unemployment rates in the area, the number is still lower than it was this time last year.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said, ““Even though we continue to see Georgia’s workforce be successfully employed in record-breaking numbers, there is still much more work to do as we continue to see hundreds of thousands of jobs needed to be filled.”
