A total of seven people from Chattooga and Walker counties have been arrested for cashing stolen checks.
According to the Lafayette Police Department the checks were taken from a Lyerly resident and a total of 43 were eventually cashed; the total amount missing from the man’s account was almost $12,000.
The victim told investigators that his step-granddaughter and her boyfriend has paid a visit to his home about the same time the checks went missing.
24 year old Cody Trimble and 19 year old Kelsey Leann Wallin, both of Trion stand charged with Forgery 4th Degree in connection with the case.
According to reports the largest amount taken, with checks totaling almost $9,000, was by 49 year old Charlotte Ann Trimble, also of Trion; she and four other suspects were charged with forgery as well.
Other arrests included 25 year old Rebecca Webb of Chickamauga; 20 year old Sierra Skye Parker of Trion; 43 year old Jesse Jospeh Trammell of Rock Spring and 46 year old Deanna Paige Clark of a Lafayette address.
It appears the majority of the stolen checks were cashed at the Shop Rite in Lafayette.
