Chickamauga Battlefield could get a much-needed upgrade thanks to a bipartisan bill passed by the U.S. Senate last week.

$15.4 million dollars for maintenance projects at Chickamauga is included in the Great American Outdoors bill. Brad Bennett, superintendent of the park, said the majority of the money would be used to resurface the park’s 25 miles of paved roads.

The money to fund the projects would come from drilling royalties paid to the federal government.
