The administrative team at CHS is evaluating their FLEX time program to possibly enhance its effectiveness.  CHS has obtained outstanding student educational benefits with their innovative FLEX time schedule and believe that greater efficiencies can be obtained by making some basic adjustments.

Presently, FLEX time is on Wednesday afternoons from 2P.M.  to 3:40 P.M. The administrative team is considering breaking the 100 minute period into two shorter 40 minute periods.  The present Wednesday FLEX day schedule allows the students to officially meet with their teachers only three times a week. One of the major advantages to the proposed two 40 minute FLEX time schedule is that it would allow students to go to every class every day.  This allows the students to have face to face contact with their teachers every school day.     The administrative team is looking at many options, but believes that a 40 minute flex period held two days per week would serve the students better than the present 100 minute Wednesday FLEX day. This beneficial change would decrease the Wednesday FLEX time, but would increase the time students spend in the classroom per week.  The benefits of being in a classroom more minutes per week and meeting with their regular teacher four days per week instead of three days outweighs the loss of 20 minutes of FLEX time on Wednesday. Students and teachers have suggested that shorter, focused time frames are more productive than longer classes. The administrative team will evaluate the FLEX time alternatives and publish their findings in future Indian Lore publications.
