Pippa Key, an eleventh-grade honor student at Chattooga High School, has been selected to attend the Disney Dreamers Academy! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Pippa. Out of thousands of applicants across the United States, only 100 high school students were selected to attend the Academy.

In order to apply for the Academy, the students were required to be from an underrepresented community and had to complete a number of essay prompts concerning diversity, inclusion, equality, and change. Pippa also had to complete an essay on turning adversity to joy.

The 100 winners were recently announced on Good Morning America, and their names were displayed on a billboard in Times Square in New York City. Each of these students along with one parent or guardian will embark on an all-expense paid trip to a Walt Disney World Resort, March 23-26, for the 16th annual Academy event. This event will be hosted by Steve Harvey and attended by other celebrities and speakers from major career fields who will mentor the students.

According to Disney, during this four-day event, the teens are challenged to “Be100,” an aspirational mindset that encourages the students to be 100 percent “all in,” to make the most of their opportunities, relentlessly pursue and realize their dreams, and positively make a difference in the lives of others.
