The SkillsUSA Georgia State Championships were held this past week at the World Congress Center in Atlanta and Chattooga High School was no stranger to the awards stage.

CHS was once again well represented with over thirty students qualified to compete and thirteen of those taking home awards. The SkillsUSA Georgia State Championships recognizes career and technical education students who excel in their occupational areas, and spotlights leadership development activities that are such an integral part of the SkillsUSA program. Automotive Technology: Thomas Blackwell Gold Medal, Colten Hankins – Bronze Medal Cabinetmaking: Carole Ann Cash – Gold Medal Carpentry: Kasen Elsberry – Silver Medal Electrical Construction Wiring: Michael Bond – Silver Medal Teamworks – Construction: Lane Bridges, Ely Childers, Zayden Cook, Mason Majors – Gold Medal Welding Fabrication: Gavin Collier, Evan Fletcher, Gunner Henderson, Connor Ray – Gold Medal

CHS faculty members Phillip Jackson, Benji Price, Chief Robinson and Carter Woodall have worked with their students since the school year began and after competing in regional contest the winners at that level advanced on to the state competition. The ten Gold Medal winners will go on to compete in SkillsUSA National Competition in June of this year.
