The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of debit card fraud involving a Menlo-area church.  According to a report released this week, a sheriff’s deputy spoke with the person who handles the Chelsea Baptist Church Youth bank account.  The complainant told the deputy that she went to use the debit card for the church’s youth account and the card was declined.  When she went to United Community Bank to check, someone had used the card number to access over $9,700 in the church’s funds.  The incident was turned over to an investigator.  The charges were made between June 16th and August 28th, according to the report.
