More charges for a church secretary accused of theft.

45-year old Trudy Irene Crowe was originally arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with one count of theft by conversion.

The warrant stated she took $2,500 from New Zion Baptist Church on Morton Bend Road and then used the money to purchase an outbuilding for her property on Alabama Highway.

On Sunday, six additional counts of theft by conversion were filed against Crowe.

Jail records state that she took church funds by writing checks that were supposed to be for work at the church.

However, the work was never done.

The six checks totaled more than $1,632.
