The City of Summerville has set the date and time for an Appeals Board hearing on a fired employee for Thursday of this week.
Former City of Summerville employee, Jessica Keith, was terminated from her job just prior to Christmas this past year. Keith was terminated after refusing to resign in a meeting with City Manage Janice Galloway and her supervisor, Carla Rutledge. Despite having never had an unfavorable employee review or reprimand, verbal or written, Keith was let go due to failing to remove several former city employees from the City’s health insurance policy. According to documents this cost the City around $10,000 in over payments to Flegal insurance. These incidents occurred during what many would consider to be a very hectic time period, as the employees were dealing with COVID-19 pandemic but also during the water crisis of the City’s drinking water.
