A thirty-two year old Cloudland man was taken into custody last night after a stand-off with Chattooga County deputies and Georgia State Patrol officers on Gilreath Mill Road.

The stand-off began when deputies attempted to serve a warrant for parole violation on Matthew Lee Farmer.  Farmer has served time in the Georgia Correctional system for theft by receiving stolen property and drug charges.  He was last arrested in November of 2010 on parole violation charges.

According to reports, Farmer barricaded himself in the mobile home he lived in at 1330 Gilreath Mill Road and told officers that he did not want to go back to prison.  Deputies called in back up for what eventually became a full-scale stand-off operation.

The incident ended around 9:20 last night when Farmer gave himself up and was taken into custody.  Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett expressed that he was thankful that no one was injured during the incident.
