Layoffs for colleges could be ahead in the state of Georgia, especially at UGA says President Michael Adams. Adams said that the budget cuts this year are close to $48 million. He added that the tuition and fee increases only equal about a third of that.
Adams said that the central administration will take most of the cuts, but individual units will still have to slice.
UGA is expected to operate next year with less funding than fiscal 1998, but with 5,000 more students.
