State Senator Colton Moore, a vocal conservative representing Chattooga and surrounding Northwest Georgia counties, has announced he is seriously considering a bid for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2026. Moore, known for his unwavering conservative stance and frequent disagreements with fellow Republicans in the Georgia Senate, cited a desire to combat a “broken system” as the driving force behind his potential run.
“If I step into the U.S. Senate race, it won’t be for a title,” Moore stated in a released statement. “We the People must fight the broken system that has betrayed Georgia… The time for a Constitutional candidate is here.” The firebrand Senator, who gained national attention earlier this year after his arrest in the Georgia House Chamber, has consistently positioned himself as an outsider willing to challenge the establishment. He highlighted his lone vote against the Georgia budget, citing excessive spending and the absence of a plan to eliminate state income tax, as proof of his dedication to conservative ideals.
Moore has also been known to publicly clash with local leaders in Chattooga County. Moore has drawn the ire of local elected officials on several occasions and even threatened local legislation against both of the locally elected school boards in Chattooga County. He has also been suspended by the Republican Caucus in the Georgia Senate after he was accused of publicly using false statements against fellow caucus members.
As is often the case, Moore concluded his announcement with a request for financial support. A link to donate to his campaign war chest was included in the statement.
While a formal announcement is still pending, Moore’s statement suggests a strong likelihood of him entering the race, promising a potentially contentious primary battle for the Republican nomination in 2026.
