On Friday, the Georgia Department of Community Health approved Atrium Health Floyd’s certification for a new freestanding emergency room in Chattooga County.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry released the following statement:

What a great day for Chattooga County! What started as a conversation of what I wanted to see happen for our community turned into a reality today.
This did not happen overnight, and I want to thank all of our state and local officials who supported and helped champion along with me to get this project to the finish line. Thank you to Atrium/Floyd for taking our conversation and this initiative seriously and running with it. And thank you to the Department of Health for agreeing with us on the need for 24/7 Emergency Care in Chattooga County. 
This ER project will not only benefit the citizens of Chattooga County but it will also be a benefit to the citizens of our Northwest Georgia Region.
This project also has important state implications. As Atriums first Free Standing ER in the state of Georgia it can serve as a blueprint for improving access to emergency healthcare across rural Georgia.
