Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry announced on Thursday that he had awarded the county’s EMS bid to Atrium Health Floyd.

In a press release, the commissioner thanked Redmond EMS for their years of service to the county.

Elsberry cited Atrium Health Floyd’s plans for the future as a reason for his decision. The health care provider is planning a free-standing emergency room in the county.

Details of the agreement were not discussed in the commissioner’s statement.

Elsberry is a former employee of Floyd Medical Center.
