Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that the news of Atrium Health Floyd beginning the process to open a new free-standing emergency room in Chattooga County is something that he has been working on since taking office.

In a press release earlier this week, Elsberry said, “Since the beginning of the year I have been sharing and promoting my initiative of getting some sort of 24/7 emergency care in Chattooga County.”

The commissioner said that he has met multiple times with health care providers and is happy that Atrium Health Floyd has made the decision to build the new facility.

Elsberry added, “This could possible be one of the first free-standing ER’s in rural Northwest Georgia and will be a great benefit to our entire region.”
