Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters says that he is considering reducing the millage rate after looking at the county’s tax digest.
The commissioner said that a decision on the millage rate may be forthcoming by the middle of next week. Winters told The Summerville News that for now, he does plan to roll back the millage rate slightly. Winters says the adjustments will keep tax revenues about the same.
The county is expecting to bring in around $7 million in property tax revenue for the coming year.
