Six hundred new jobs at Walker County’s largest employer are expected to help Chattooga County workers – that according to Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry.

Elsberry responded to a question from The Summerville News this week about the economic state of the county.  The commissioner said an increase in jobs and business at Roper is a “win” for Chattooga County.

New data shows that Chattooga County is one of the most financially stressed counties in the state. The data puts the county as the 18th most-economically stressed county in the state, out of 159 counties.  Just two years ago, Chattooga was at 67.
