Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that a new site for a trash drop-off convenience center is in the works for residents in the Menlo area.

Earlier this year, Commissioner Elsberry announced that the Menlo dump site would be closed.  At first, it was thought the site would close at the end of February, but Commissioner Elsberry was able to get an extension to the end of March.  The site on Highway 48 across from the Menlo Barn Dance closed on March 31st.

The commissioner says that he has a new site for the convenience center, but it will take about a month to finalize plans for the new facility.  The exact location has not been disclosed.

In the mean time, residents in the Menlo and Cloudland areas will need to bring their trash to the county transfer station located on Stockade Road in Summerville.
