In his weekly media meeting, Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry said that he has no new information regarding a letter he sent to a local industry last week demanding over $47,000 in payment.

The commissioner’s letter contends that Trycon Industries in Lyerly owes the county the money for sewer expansion work that was done on private property during the tenure of Commissioner Jason Winters.  Trycon’s attorney strongly disagrees with the commissioner and said that all of the work that was done on Trycon property was paid by the company and the work the commissioner is requesting repayment for was on the State of Georgia railroad right-of-way.

This week, Elsberry said that he sent the letter after speaking with Chrysan Thomas asked a question about it while getting the state audit ready.  Elsberry admits that he does not know for sure if the work was done on private property or not, but he says he sent the letter on the advise of the county attorney.

Elsberry told reporters, “I really don’t have any other comments about that” when questioned about the issue on Tuesday.
