Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio on Tuesday that he plans to re-bid the meals supplied to the Chattooga County Jail. Winters said the move is due in part to the fact that the county is allowed to serve two meals a day to inmates as long as the calorie count meets state guidelines for prisoners. The move would save money for the county and still provide inmates with the necessary nutritional requirements. Many counties around Chattooga County already have a two meal a day system in their jails. AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will have more on the bid process in upcoming newscasts.
