Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters confirmed that he will be privatizing the Chattooga County Ambulance Service.
Winters told AM 1180, late Sunday evening, "after very thoughtful consideration the county will choose to use a private provider for EMS. A decision on which provider will be made by Feb. 15 and a goal of having operations transferred by April 1."
Winters said that an official press release will come out later today. Look for the press release on www.chattoogainfo.com .
Winters also said that he will be meeting one on one with each employee with the Chattooga County Ambulance Service between now and February 15. Winters said this will be an opportunity for current employees to ask questions and voice any concerns and give an idea of which provider they would prefer to work for.
AM 1180 will bring you updates later today as they become available.
