Sight preparation has been completed and construction has begun on the new Menlo Elementary School.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were  held in February. In March, the construction sight was cleared and foundations were being poured. Now, students and faculty at the school can see walls being poured for the new building.

The new school at Menlo was approved by the Chattooga Board of Education over a year ago and the school board has promised an “aggressive timeline for completion”, according to Board Chairman Eddie Elsberry.

The new facility will replace the oldest school still being used in the county school system.  Chairman Elsberry told WZQZ News on Wednesday that completion for the project is projected for the Spring of 2023.
