Repairing a monument brings it back to life to tell the stories of those it is memorializing. Unfortunately, many family members wishing to conserve their history have no idea where to begin. Sunday, October 20, 2024 the public will have the opportunity to meet with gravestone and monument conservation consultants inside the Summerville Cemetery as an extra bonus during the Living History Cemetery Tours and Baker Gate Dedication.
This is a great opportunity to have an in person consultation with two independent companies that will be available inside the Summerville Cemetery from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. to speak with individuals and families about cleaning, restoration, or adding a death date to a tombstone. Gary Morgan from Northwest Georgia Grave Restoration Services, and Savannah Winn from Southeast Tombstone and Cemetery Restoration, LLC. will be on site and happy to consult with families regarding restoration service needs.
The Summerville Living History Cemetery Tours are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. with free shuttles departing from the Summerville Depot Sequoyah Quilt Show 15 minutes prior to each tour. The Baker Gate Dedication is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
