A City of Summerville employee alerted Summerville Police about a contractor taking water from the fountain at Dowdy Park.

The Rome contractor was identified as Felton Ambrocio.  According to the City of Summerville worker, Ambrocio had been filling up five gallon buckets of water from the water fountain located near the Veterans Memorial.  The contractor told police that he was using the water to mix concrete at a job he was working on nearby and that he thought the water was “free” for the public to use.

The officer informed the contractor that in fact, taking water from the fountain was diversion of services and he could be cited for doing so.

But the officer let the contractor off with a warning and told him he could use Town Creek at the park to fill his buckets if he wanted to get free water.
