Strong storms and possible tornadoes in Alabama this morning have left some structural damage near the Birmingham area.  Strong storms have prompted officials in Cherokee County, Alabama to delay school for two hours this morning.

Jason Beck with The Weather Channel said that cooler temperatures in Northwest Georgia may help to diminish the impact of the weather system as it moves into our area.  Temperatures this morning in Northwest Georgia were in the mid to low fourties – that compares to the mid-fifties in Northeast Alabama.

Chattooga County remains under a Tornado WATCH until 11 AM.

Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that a tree is down on East Halls Valley Road – Drivers should use caution in the area as public works crews work to clean up the tree.
