The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office was called to a South Little Sand Mountain Road address on Tuesday of this week concerning the theft of copper wiring from a cell phone tower site.

The deputy met with Eric Bennett of Sothern Linc Company, who is an employee for the company that owns the cell phone tower.  Bennett told the responding deputy someone had cut the fence on the back side of the property around the cell tower and cut the ground wires from the cell tower connected to the fence and some of the wires leading from the power box to the cell tower.

Mr. Bennett said that the security system revealed two separate incidents on June 16th and June 17th.  Both theft incidents happened between noon and 2 PM on those days.

The responding deputy found two separate shoe prints leading to the back side of the property where the fence had been cut.

The incident was turned over to an investigator.
