Two corrections officers stabbed early Sunday morning in an incident at Hays State Prison are back at work. That according to Georgia Department of Corrections Northern Field Operations Manager Rick Jacobs.

Jocobs said both men were checked locally by the medical staff at the prison then sent to a hospital in Rome. Both were treated and immediately released, he said. Both men returned to the facility the same day,  Both men took two days off and were both on shift, working Thursday night.

So far, the DOC has not released the names of those men or information surrounding the incident. 

 AM1180 sources indicate the incident took place at around 1 a.m. Sunday morning when a corrections officer and a sergeant were assaulted during an altercation involving an inmare. According to sources, the incident occurred outside the dormitory when a corrections officer was attacked by at least one inmate with a home-made shank, or knife. A second corrections officer reportedly came to the aid of the first and also received injuries. According to Jacobs, the injuries were not serious.
