The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued its most severe warning regarding thousands of eggs distributed to Costco locations across five states. The agency has cautioned that consuming these eggs could lead to serious health consequences, including severe illness or even death.
The eggs in question are from the Handsome Brook Farms brand, specifically the Signature Organic Pasture-Raised 24-Count Eggs. They were distributed to Costco stores in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, with approximately 10,800 retail units shipped out starting November 22.
The FDA has linked the affected eggs to potential salmonella exposure, prompting urgent action. Consumers are advised to check for cartons bearing the numbers 327 and P1363, with a use-by date of January 5, 2025.
In light of this serious health risk, the FDA strongly recommends that anyone who has purchased these eggs refrain from consuming them immediately. Instead, customers should return the affected cartons to their local Costco for a full refund or dispose of them safely.
