The Summerville City Council met on Monday evening, and discussed and voted on a Hardship Allowance for the property at 162 Taylor Street. Mr. Greg Dickson and his wife plan to move a single-wide trailer to the property. However, it is an R1 zoned property, which prohibits trailers. Mr. Dickson's mother, Doris Dickson, age 82, is in failing health and lives at the Taylor Street residence. Mr. Dickson, who lives 65 miles away, has had people come sit with her and watch her, which he sees as a "short-term" solution; Mr. Dickson and his wife plan to occupy the trailer once it is placed on the property, so that they can be there to take care of her at all times. With all adjacent property owners notified, the council voted unanimously to approve the Hardship Allowance, under the condition that the trailer can only exist on the property as long as the Hardship is in effect.
