After flooding in downtown Summerville earlier this year, Summerville City Councilman Joe Money stated that he was determined to see something done about the problem that has happened time and time again over the past two decades.

Shortly after the devastating flood waters receded, Councilman Money called together state and local officials for a round-table discussion about the problem.  A few days later Councilman Money reported that several beaver dams were cleared downstream in Town Creek.  The dams were causing a backup of water in the creek that flows from Willow Springs Park to the Chattooga River.

But beaver dams aren’t the only issue.  Councilman Money said last week, ” Your seeing Georgia Department of Transportation surveyors in our downtown Summerville area. These surveyors are checking out our city layout, dimensions and drainage escape routes to remove water from our low lying areas downtown, side streets and other areas along Hwy 27.”
